The apartment is located in a building on Karnegi str., built in the 40s of XX century. It brings the atmosphere and spirit of its time. It occupies the entire first floor and is a tripartite situated with southern, northern and eastern exposure.
The project is developed according to the modern requirements and concept of a functional home. A solution was reached with separate day and night tract.
For achieving a better organization of space, the main and the menial entrance are removed and replaced with a new entrance.
The existing hall is converted into a dressing room with natural light. The bathroom is expanded, and a new toilet with a laundry are designed next to it.
The existing tiled stoves are preserved as characteristic elements of the interior.
The living room is organized into elongated common area achieved by combining two of the existing rooms. The presence of windows on two opposite façades - north and south, provides natural lighting and ventilation of the room.
The kitchen is an essential element in the apartment, inspired by the desires and lifestyle of the owner. It is treated as a separate volume with elongated shape and long counter providing a front for work. The sliding door provides the possibility of partial or complete separation of the kitchen. Thus, one part is separated from the volume of the living room and can be defined as a “black” kitchen. Tiles in ivory and dark red are used in checkmate order, which beside the kitchen floor cover the walls and the ceiling.
The disclosure and the overexposure of the brickwork wall in the living room help to achieve the “vintage” effect desired by the customer. Soft forms are sought through which contemporary decor with a retro touch is achieved.
