Pine hill is a complex, which consists of three residential houses with an emphasized common vision. The location of the buildings is dictated by the context features – existing vegetation, natural sunshine, beautiful views and car access.
Each one of the houses has two above ground floors and one underground, which fits as unobtrusive as possible due to the strong concave shape of the terrain.
The geometry of the buildings is subject to a common fan-dissolution of the volumes from east to west, which on the one hand provides individual covered ‘barbecue‘ spaces for each house, on the other hand it is possible to capture the remarkable natural landscape, surrounding the buildings.
In order to handle the complexity of the terrain, retaining walls and fences of gabions have been used, which transforms into the building façades and contribute to the overall nature of the complex.
The buildings are designed following a standard close to that for passive buildings, which in this case is expressed in the used thicknesses of external thermal insulation, high-quality glazing and joinery, thermo-pumped heating with underground serpentines.
